Agent Spotlight: Rock Feeman

MC-Team-Photos-Rock

MC-Team-Photos-RockRock Feeman has an unlikely and most welcome background for real estate sales.  He’s a former engineer and program manager, most recently employed at a satellite communications company.  Rock spent over 20 years traveling to Europe, Latin America and Asia to assist his business clients.  So how did that experience help him to become the super star agent that he is today? Here are the answers from his brief ‘5 Questions’ interview as our Spotlight Agent:

Q: Why real estate?
A:  I like solving problems.  It’s my background.  I’ve worked with customers all over the world, and when I was presented with the opportunity to work with Michael and his team, I welcomed the chance to continue what I do best while working closer to home, and without all the international travel.  Real estate is a noble profession, and I love helping customers throughout the complete process, end to end.

Q:  What has been most challenging about this journey so far?
A:  Truthfully, the perception of real estate agents as a whole isn’t that good.  I hear it every day from my customers.  They tell me that agents historically fail to do what they say they will do, fail to clearly communicate and especially fail at listening.  Listening is critical to this job.  I have a strong background in customer service, and although overcoming that widespread perception isn’t easy sometimes, I really do enjoy helping people find the right house and negotiate a deal they’re happy with.  Customer communication is the most important thing.

Q:  What advice do you give your customers that they probably won’t hear anywhere else?
A:  First, I do my best to educate home buyers about the complete process.  I take the time to help them understand the different between needs and wants, and striving to accomplish all of them but realizing that there may be compromises along the way.  The search for a home isn’t always a perfect process.  You rarely find the dream home on the first visit.  It takes education, listening and lots of patience.

Q: What has been the most rewarding part of being an agent?
A:  When I’m sitting at the closing table as my customers sign the paperwork, that’s the most rewarding part.  I can see it in their eyes when they say ‘thank you’, and it means a lot.  I know we’ve gotten through the journey successfully.

Q: What do you believe makes you different from other agents?
A:  I have a business background, which has served me well with problem-solving.  You need that as an agent, because not every real estate transaction is easy.  I’ve dealt with difficult situations, and when things get tough, I’ll work harder and longer than anyone else to make sure my clients get what they deserve.

Rock Feeman began his real estate career with Michael Carr & Associates in December 2013, and has already achieved sales in excess of $2 million.  He’s also an outstanding citizen and public servant, having been recognized by the United Way as Jackson County’s ‘Volunteer of the Year’ in 2013.  He has proudly served on the board the United Way and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Jackson County Habitat for Humanity.
